Research activity is one of the main lines of development of the School of Telecommunicacions Systems and Engineering. It reflects on the numerous research results and technological transfer to the industry throughout collaboration agreements on R&D activities with companies working on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the engagement in R&D projects funded by official organizations, both national (CIYT, PROFIT, AVANZA, and CAM programmes, among others) and supranational (EU Framework Programmes).
The research potential of the School of Telecommunicacions Systems and Engineering is organised around the various research groups present. Among them there are several groups recognised by the UPM and that are based here. The majority of the research groups are located on the Torres Quevedo building, which was built with the goal of promoting R&D activity.
